Abstract
:

The African publishing industry faces significant challenges in representing diverse voices, experiences and perspectives. The lack of diversity in published works perpetuates harmful stereotypes, excludes marginalized communities, and limits the industry's growth. The Alba network curated Equity Guidelines for Publishing, and in partnership with Neuroscience and European Journal of Neuroscience, we are proposing to hold a workshop to identify and address challenges faced by neuroscience researchers working in low-to-middle income countries (LMICs) and to advocate for an inclusive and equitable publishing ecosystem. The workshop will be facilitated by experiences publishing professionals (Editors-in-Chief of either journal), DEI experts and industry through leaders Proposed program with duration of 90 min:
1- Opening remarks and introductions-Session Chairs
2- Benefits of publishing in Society Journals (EIC Neuroscience/EJN)
3- The publishing gap- (Challenges and opportunities) forLMIC researchers
4- Round table discussion- (Challenges and opportunities) forLMIC
